WaterAid – water for life

WaterAid’s vision is of a world where everyone has access to safe water and effective sanitation.

WaterAid is an international NGO dedicated exclusively to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world’s poorest people. These most basic services are essential to life; without them vulnerable communities are trapped in the stranglehold of disease and poverty.

WaterAid and its partner organisations help some of the poorest communities in Africa and Asia provide themselves with a better quality of life through water, sanitation and hygiene education projects. Established in 1981 WaterAid currently has programmes in 15 countries where it works in both rural and urban areas, and helps over 500,000 people every year. WaterAid also seeks to influence the policies of other key organisations, such as governments, to secure and protect the right of poor people to safe, affordable water and sanitation services.
