Introduction to Human Rights
This section provides an introduction to international human rights law. It is primarily intended for people who have little or no knowledge of human rights or of the protection provided by international law.

It provides a brief overview of the scope of human rights, draws attention to the six core human rights treaties and outlines state obligations to respect, protect and fulfil human rights.

The section ends with a brief look at the mechanisms in place to monitor the right to water, including the role of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
